For the third year running Long Island Cruizin' For A Cure held our one day Antique and Classic Car show. The show was held at the Capital One Bank Building on the corner of Route 110 and the Long Island Expressway in Melville New York on Sunday September 7th during National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. We had over 350 classic and antique cars on exhibit from Model A Fords to Ferraris and over 1000 visitors to the event.
The fundraising was a financial success, with the proceeds donated to the New York Prostate Institute at South Nassau Communities Hospital. The most rewarding aspect of the day were the 210 (an increase over the number of tests given in 2007) free prostate cancer PSA screening tests conducted by South Nassau Community Hospital, There were five potential cases of Prostate Cancer discovered as a result of this testing, and these individuals have been contacted and are following-up with their physicians.
