For the sixth year running Long Island Cruizin' For A Cure held our one day Antique and Classic Car show, newly located at the Sears Automotive Center on Broadway (Route 106/107) in Hicksville. Held on Sunday September 11, we incorporated a number of 9/11 related memorials as well as a noon flag ceremony, a check presentation to the TERRY FUND (a 9/11 victim) and our guest speaker, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.
WE BROKE ALL RECORDS WITH MORE THAN 535 EXHIBITOR CARS AND 1800 PAID VISITORS TO THE EVENT, as well as providing 286 free PSA (blood) tests for the early detection of Prostate Cancer. The weather got overcast and the exhibitor cars kept on coming in, until at 2:00PM it rained briefly, but long enough to close the event down. Even so, the event was a tremendous success, beyond what we had forecast…. and we expect an even bigger show in 2012. Our newly introduced "How To" clinics, a series of half hour presentation on various aspects of car care and restoration, were a sellout, and we even had a "Car Corral" exhibiting a number of attendee cars for sale.
Dee Jays Fonzie and ChaChi spun the oldies, played trivia and generally kept the visitors on their toes and our kids area kept our younger visitors busy. Lest we forget Mom, we had a number of vendors selling jewelry and handbags. The event was a perfect day for the entire family!
The money raised will be put into a new offsite free PSA testing program as well as covering the cost for the free PSA testing at the event which was provided by North Shore LIJ Health System. As mentioned we provided 286 free prostate cancer PSA screening tests at the event, which returned fifteen potential cases of Prostate Cancer. These men (with an elevated PSA level) have been contacted and are following-up with their physicians.

We also want to thank all of the car exhibitors, the visitors who came out to the event and everyone else who was a part of making the day an overwhelming success.
