For the second year running Long Island Cruizin' For A Cure held our one day Antique and Classic Car show, this year at the TRITEC Building on Wireless Boulevard in the Hauppauge Industrial Park. At the show, held on September 9th, during National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we had over 200 classic and antique cars on exhibit from Model A Fords to Ferraris.
The fundraising was a financial success, with the proceeds donated to the New York Prostate Institute at South Nassau Communities Hospital. The most rewarding aspect of the day were the 202 (more three times the number of tests given in 2006) free prostate cancer PSA screening tests conducted by South Nassau Community Hospital, There were five potential cases of Prostate Cancer discovered as a result of this testing, and these individuals have been contacted and are following-up with their physicians.
The Long Island Cruizin' for a Cure volunteers truly thank South Nassau Communities Hospital and our sponsors Long Island Classic Car Garage, North Fork Bank, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Potomac Garage Solutions, Rallye Motor Group, Champion Motors of Jericho and GrooveCar, and everyone else who was a part of making the day an overwhelming success.
